The Sopot Hippodrome hosts equestrian competions in jumping, dressage and eventing. We organize competitions of different ranks: from regional and national to the biggest and most important international ones.
The admittance is always free of charge. We are also trying to offer some additional attractions, especially for the youngest visitors (animations, contests, games, inflated structures, professional game organizers, etc.) and food stalls.
The most important competition held at the Sopot Hippodrome is The CSIO 3*** Official International Jumping Competition. This is the event of the highest rank, held only once in a year in a given country. Since 2009, the Sopot Hippodrome has had this priviledge. Traditionally, this competition is covered by the honorary patronage of the President of Poland. The CSIO*** gathers best jumpers of international class along with their marvelous horses. This competition is very popular with spectators and is eagerly commented by the media. It is accompanied by many shows in equestrian art, dog training, art exhibitions and the traditional hat pageant.
International Eventing Competition and Eventing Championship of Poland take place here twice a year. Year 2011 edition of this event constituted a qualification phase for the Olymic Games in London. Almost 100 world-leading competitiors using more than 150 horses participated in the 3-day challenge. In August 2011, for the second time in the history of the Eventing Competitions in Sopot so many international competitiors registered for the event! More than 41 representatives from Belarus, Czech Republic, Estonia, Finland, The Netherlands, Lithuania, Norway, Russia, Romania, Slovakia, Sweden and Great Britain was a record-breaking attendance.
The competition is held during 3 days: on the first day, there is the dressage challenge: - elegance, precision and impeccable appearance of the horse and the rider determine the winner. On the second day, the spectacular open-terrain challange, the so-called 'cross' is held – the horses dash through the beautiful area of the Hippodrome, traversing different obstacles – felled trees, expansive water, deep ditches and many others. The third day is devoted to jumping over obstacles, of up to 1,3 m height! The outstanding competitors of the Sopot Equestrian Club, were the ambassadors of the August edition of the Eventing. Katarzyna Kokowska for many years has been a successful member of the Polish National Team and was the best Polish competitor during the World Cup Competition held in Strzegom in June. Jerzy Lipkowski, this year's Young Riders Champion of Poland and Senior Second Vice-Champion of Poland, is among other things the winner of the Ist Equestrian Derby of Gdansk held two weeks ago.
